David was born in 1988 in Martinsburg, WV, near Washington, D.C.  His mother, a violinist and orchestra director, discovered David’s affinity for music after he stole his sister’s recorder, locked himself in a bedroom, and taught himself to play it at age 3.  By age 4, he was enrolled in private violin lessons.  By high school, music had become his #1 love and interest as he explored this passion in various capacities.  Classical violin was always at the forefront, but David also discovered a love for percussion and guitar, playing in jazz band, marching band, local rock bands, and working with music recording, production, and mixing.  During this time, David also attended some of the country’s most prestigious classical music programs and festivals, including Interlochen, the Round Top Festival Institute, and the Madeline Island Chamber Music program.

David attended West Virginia University, studying violin with Dr. Mikylah McTeer, and graduated with degrees in violin performance and music education.  After teaching one year of public-school orchestra in West Virginia, David moved to Austin, where he quickly began building a studio of private students as well as keeping an active performance schedule.  David still writes, produces, and performs music, although these days his passion burns brightest in sharing music through education.  He has now been teaching private music lessons in Austin for 12 years, with many dedicated, loyal students, many of which place highly in competitive school orchestra and regional auditions.  Outside of music, David is an avid lover of nature, cooking, health and fitness, and his girlfriend Brooke.
